My baby girl started her last first day of elementary school today. It was bittersweet. Sweet because these children of mine badly needed a bit more structure and purpose to their lives (which I am sure their teachers will be all too happy to provide). And I was in need of some alone time. Bitter because the fact that she is starting 5th grade means that she won't be my baby for too much longer. Even more bitter because the fact that Helmut started his final year of high school today means the days I have left with him are truly numbered (I am taking lots of deep breaths and trying to act calm on the outside).
In a rare turn of events, Samantha was actually cooperative while I was getting some "first day of school" shots this morning. So I took full advantage.
Sam looked and looked for a new pair of shoes for school. In the end, she stuck with her usual, a new pair of Converse.
We got creative with her lunch box this year. She picked out this Dome Cosmetic bag by Fossil. The oil cloth liner inside makes it perfect for a lunch box.
Sam and her dad picked out this new backpack. It is a bit small, but she is trying her best to make it work.
