Yesterday all the temple missionaries and the temple presidency went on a field trip to Montauk Point on the eastern end of Long Island. We left about 8:00 a.m. and immediately ran into gridlock traffic because the UN is meeting in general assembly this week and is causing great havoc to the traffic on the east side. We stopped in Riverhead to pick up another missionary couple who live there and serve as member leadership support missionaries. They work a shift at the temple on Wednesdays. We stopped to eat lunch at a restaurant that's specialty is Lobster Rolls. It is like a hot dog bun filled with a lobster salad. I was not crazy about it, but I was a little bit car sick. Dad had striped bass and it was better. They did have the most delicious raspberry pie that I have ever had. After lunch we went to Montauk Point. The lighthouse there was commissioned by George Washington in 1790. It was beautiful out there. The weather was perfect, and the ocean was so blue. We went through Southampton and East Hampton where we saw some beautiful homes and exclusive shops. On the way home we went on two ferries and went to another lighthouse. The country side was beautiful, and it was good to see something beside buildings and people. We did not get home until 9:00 p.m., so it was a very full day.
