The GTO that Helmut and the boys are restoring is moving along. Very slowly. It is a big project and those three don't have a bunch of free time. Up until Friday, they had hit a bit of a wall. The grill frame on the front of the car comes out to a point. This made it impossible to get the engine hoist close enough to hook up and, well...hoist the engine. It would seem as easy as removing the grill frame, but it had been tack welded to the side frame sometime along the way. So on Friday afternoon, Josh begged Helmut to start working on the car again. They started by grinding out the tack welds. I am hoping Helmut will write up all the details of how they got the engine out. But it is indeed out of the car. Now they have to start the laborious job of rebuilding the engine while we send the frame out to have the body work finished and to have it repainted.
