Halloween on a school night is kind of a drag. It seemed like we rushed home from school and waited impatiently for the sun to set so the festivities could begin. Next thing you know, it was time to rush home to get in bed at a decent hour.
Aunt Sarah (the true mistress of Halloween) was out of town, so Halloween wasn't really the same. We did make it over to Coles to take Samantha and Parker trick-or-treating. They had been scheming up their costume idea for months. I tried to talk Sam into all kinds of fun and cute and clever costumes, but insisted on being an assassin. Guns and all. In my experience, the problem with guns is they quickly go from being this:
to this:
Yep, pointed directly at someones head.
The trick-or-treating was quite the experience. I have never seen so many scantily clad middle school kids in all my life. I'm talking bar wenches, French maids, Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders (don't get me wrong...I love the DCCs, but their costume is way too provocative for a 13 year old). You name it, I saw it. Crazy.
But the kids had a great time and came away with loads of candy! A Halloween success.
