It is tradition at Moore Elementary that the 3rd graders spend an afternoon working at McDonald's. I suppose it is an opportunity for the kids to see how things work behind the scenes. Plus it gives them a glimpse into the working world. Josh still remebers the day he worked at McDonald's vividly. He is still bitter about not getting to use the credit card machine in the drive thru.
Since Sam was in the 3rd grade this year, it was her turn. As the day Samantha was assigned to work approached, she became more and more excited. She gave me the run down of all the requirements many times (nicely trimmed fingernails, long pants, hair in a ponytail, etc.) and made sure she turned in her permission slip the very next day after it was handed out.
The boys and I came along to be customers. Of course we each stood in line separately so each child would have a chance to take an order. It was pretty fun, but got a bit crazy as the hour went on. The restaurant got more and more packed which seemed to stress the workers out. But truth be told, everyone waiting to be served was a parent/sibling/grandparent/relative of one of the kids working. Which meant they were more than willing to wait in line to be served by their own child. Regardless, Sam thought it was the best thing ever and that is all that matters.
