Phew. What a weekend! We were running, running, running the whole weekend long. When I plopped down in bed on Sunday night I felt like I needed a few more days to recuperate from my weekend.
We did have a great Father's Day yesterday. We started the day with gifts in bed for Dad. I gave him some new running clothes (he keeps threatening to run in the neighborhood without his shirt, and I am doing everything I can to stop that from happening). Little Helmut went with a Home Depot gift card, which I am sure will be used. Josh went all out with a package of 16" long Twizzlers. Sam got him a few seeds for his garden. She also made him an adorable miniature clay replica of his square foot garden that read "u r #1". Too cute.
Judy hosted a lovely dinner that night. We feasted on Beef Tenderloin a la Judy, Green Bean Salad (I have to admit that Helmut made this...on Father's Day. I know. I am a bad wife), rosemary rolls by Emily, and a yummy Italian salad by Jen. I made a hummingbird cake for dessert complete with adorable clay hummingbirds on top made by Sam. I had never eaten a hummingbird cake before, let alone made one from scratch, so I was super nervous about how it would turn out. But I loved it, so I hope everyone else did too.
The cake looks so cute!! I will have to try it some time. We miss you and are sad we will not be there or in SA for the 4th.
